She has Ta-Tas! LOL.
Not much to report on this day as far as Medusa work. I’ve been busy crocheting (8 hour) days to get her torso-work completed. Since I’m using very small yarn and hook, it is slow going.
Why Medusa?
As I child, I became fascinated with Greek Mythology and other mythologies in general when my best friend checked a book out about it from the school library. She was able to remember all the gods/monsters. I remember instantly being taken with Medusa. Her story has changed through the years and now she is used as a symbol to villainize women in power. I think all of the stories written about her are unique and many writers through the millennia have depicted her in different ways. She keeps thriving and being reinvented.

I read a book recently about Medusa that changed the way I viewed her as being…..in a positive way. What if her snakes (of course part of her) were her family and cared for her and felt what she felt, even protected her? What if she were human on the inside and wasn’t the monster she looks like on the outside? I love that what has been written about her is sort of vague and ever changing. I feel free to create Medusa how I want her to be.

Awesome work, Stacy! I can’t think of a better place to bring your latest creation of Medusa to life. In a country where yarn is queen, it just has to be there!! At least I assume it is queen since lambs are everywhere!! I loved our too-short trip.
Good luck and enjoy the journey!
Hi Gail! Yes, it’s so beautiful here. It’s hard to not get distracted. I’m really trying to finish her but I’m running out of time. I’m going to do as much as I can and then finish the rest of her at home. Next month, I’ll get to roam the countryside before heading home. I’m excited. And…I have already bought so much yarn! Lol. And I know I’ll buy even more when I get to the capital. 😉
