Today was museum day! Kattrin (my roomy) and I went to the Textile Museum (Heimilisiðnaðarsafnið). As residence of the textile center, we get a free pass to go. It was so beautiful learning about the history of Icelandic textiles and wool. Also, one of the staff here at the Icelandic textile center (Ragnheiður), who is a weaving expert has an exhibition at the museum. We call her Ragga, pronounced (Rocka). Her work is amazing. I’d LOVE to have her come to the US and give a presentation and workshops to our guild. https://www.textilmidstod.is/en/about-us/employees#
I have met so many amazing Icelandic women artists, but it is so frustrating to not be able to pronounce their names. This is a failure on my part, but when your mouth literally struggles to say sounds you’ve never said before, it’s better to just be quiet. Lol. I feel relief when I meet someone that has a name I can pronounce like Helga. Oof!
Medusa’s head is also coming along, but this will be the last day that I will be working on her here in Iceland. I will be leaving the residency on Tuesday. It is bitter-sweet.

Haven’t seen bobbins outside of my own (sadly not used much) in so many years….And the textiles are mind blowing!
