As I finished up a few rounds on her arms, I set them aside and started planning out her head and face. Often for the face/heads of my sculptures, I use styrofoam heads. I was able to find a smaller foam head that fits the scale of her body. This saves sooooo much time, so I don’t have to create the entire head from other materials. I begin by crocheting around the head and hold things in place with straight pins as I work my way down and around. It looks sort of torturous and strange to watch me work. Lol.

So, one thing I haven’t discussed here on my blog yet is the POOL! Iceland has this amazing pool culture! I go to the pool every other day. Rain or shine, warm or cold, Icelanders go to the pool. And it’s OUTSIDE! It’s the strangest and most wonderful thing! You go into the locker rooms, remove all clothes and shower. It is required here in Iceland that you shower naked before putting your suit on and entering the pool area. Makes a lot of sense. Also, they don’t have body image issues here. If you didn’t shower naked, you’d get very strange looks for that, not your body. Lol.

Then you put you suit on (not graceful when body is wet) and then go OUTSIDE to the pool area. But! These swimming pools are geothermal heated! So you walk right into a 90 degree swimming pool, ahhhhh. But, that’s not all! They also have 3 other hot pots (hot tubs) of varying temperatures if the pool isn’t warm enough for you. Oh, and one of the hot pots has a coffee station! WHY DO WE NOT DO THIS? It’s brilliant! I will miss this coffee/hot tub combo and visiting with locals when I leave. They also have a ‘cold pot’. What we call a polar bear plunge. I’m going to try it before I leave (maybe).

I can’t post any personal pics of our pool here. Cell phones are not allowed of course. 😉
