Made some more progress on Medusa’s tail. It is the more monotonous part of making her. Her tail fiber is like crocheting the amount of two afghans but in really strange shapes. It is time consuming, but hopefully when that is all done, the rest of her will move along quicker…or will at least be more exciting to see her change from day to day. My goal is to have 90% of her tail completed today!

Sometimes it’s hard to stay in the studio when a beautiful sunny day arrives here. I couldn’t waste it and had to head down to the shoreline. It was very low tide, and the sea revealed some of her magic! While I was walking along the shoreline, there were a lot of washed up jellyfish. But these are not your typical Atlantic jellyfish. They are the largest jellyfish in the world! I believe the one in the photo is a lion’s mane jellyfish. Note!: Jellyfish have a complex life cycle which includes both sexual and asexual phases, with the MEDUSA being the sexual stage in most instances. Coincidence? Maybe. https://seaiceland.is/what/mobile/jellyfish#:~:text=The%20lion’s%20mane%20jellyfish%20(Cyanea,quite%20common%20all%20around%20Iceland.

Among the other beautiful sights were large rocks that are typically underwater are covered with either green moss or lichen. I’m not sure which, and in the sunlight, they glowed an amazing metallic green! It was stunning!

And to end the already magical day, one of the resident artists here named Layne got engaged while her boyfriend (fiancé) is visiting! They went on top of a volcano (not the active one) and he proposed! Can you think of anything more romantic!?! You can see Layne’s Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/sharpearts/?hl=de

Of course we HAD to celebrate! 😉
